I’m not saying nulls are a good feature, only that they exist in Java. If you’re going to work on actual Java projects that use third party libraries, then you have to deal with nulls.

But if you just write the occasional Java snippet without regard for whether it compiles or not, it’s easy to make pronouncements about purity and discipline.
