Gotham. March 32, 2023. The Batman certification exam is now open to Batman hopefuls. In some ways it’s kind of like one of those Salesforce certification exams, e.g., the Salesforce Platform Developer I (PD1) exam.

The idea is that maybe there are two or three different Robins who could take over for Batman. Maybe the Robin best suited to take over for Batman would pass this exam with the highest marks. I suppose a random person off the street could theoretically also pass this exam, but only after much studying.

You need to get at least 73.5% right to pass. You have an hour and forty minutes for fifty questions. Here’s a practice exam. Answers below. Best of luck.

Question 1. In a bad guy’s lair, a shark in a shallow pool moves menacingly towards you. Apparently this is a thing that actually happens. What item in your utility belt should you use to deal with this situation?

a. Ultra-Sonic Bat Beacon

b. Oceanic Repellent Batsprays

c. Flamethrower

d. Smoke capsules

e. EMP grenade

Question 2. When “gift-wrapping” criminals for the police, you must inform them of their Miranda rights.

True, you must inform them of their rights

False, it’s not your job

Question 3. Which vehicles can you control from the Batcomputer? (select 3)

a. The Batmobile

b. The Oscar Meyer Wienermobile

c. The Batplane

d. The Batsurfboard

e. The Batcycle

Question 4. Pick out the true statements about the Batmobile (select 3)

a. It’s rear-wheel drive

b. It’s a 47-speed automatic transmission

c. It’s a 3-speed automatic transmission

d. Engine is 6.2-liter LS3 V8

e. Engine is 6.1-liter LS3 V8

Question 5. You need to rescue someone from a burning building, but don’t have a fireman’s coat. What can you use instead?

a. Captain America’s shield

b. The power of prayer

c. Your cape

d. Whatever plastic bags are laying around

e. There’s nothing you can use

Question 6. You have to fight Superman for some reason or other. Which item in your utility belt can help you even the odds?

a. Oceanic Repellent Batsprays

b. Microcasette recorder

c. Kryptonite ring

d. Bat-Camera

e. Explosive gel gun

Question 7. Which items from your utility belt can help you with tall building ingress and/or egress? (select 2)

a. Grapple

b. Batrope (optionally with Batarangs)

c. Carousel reversal spray

d. Bat-Grapple

e. X-ray vision

And so on and so forth.

As for the question of how do all those nifty gadgets fit into Batman’s belt, don’t worry about it, that question is not going to be on the Batman Certification Exam.

Here’s the answer key:

Question 1. b. Oceanic Repellent Batsprays. The Bat-Beacon might, at best, cause no change in the situation. The flamethrower might be cruelty against an animal. The smoke capsules would probably only make things worse for you.

Question 2. “Mirandizing” criminals is not part of your job description, so false. Then again, this whole masked crusader thing might not be quite legal…

Question 3. a., c. and e., obviously.

Question 4. a., c. and d.

Question 5. c., your cape, it’s fire-resistant.

Question 6. c. The kryptonite ring, obviously.

Question 7. b and d, the Batrope (optionally with Batarangs) and the Bat-Grapple. An argument could be made for the grapple, but if it’s not a Bat-Grapple then it’s not in Batman’s utility belt. Some of these certification exams are finicky about you using the properly trademarked item names. The carousel reversal spray is of no use in this situation. And X-ray vision is one of Superman’s abilities, not Batman’s.

Maybe a complete practice exam will be available on Ucademy or Skillsight or PluralShare soon.

Seriously, though, just in case it needs to be said, the Batman Certification Exam is fictional. The Salesforce PD1 is real, though, and trademark, copyright and etc. Salesforce.
